Ralph makes it look easy. It was. (25 images, just click on the images.)
July 10: We met at the top of Rocky Butte and after the ropes were in place Ralph rappelled a couple of times and then climbed the wall, followed by Cliff who also rappelled. First time. Kinda exciting, but not dangerous, as I had ropes correctly arranged. After that we drove down to a coffee place on Airport Way and continued the walking idea by getting up to Marine Drive. It was closed to auto traffic for a bike race, so we were able to walk Marine Drive and the trail next to the Columbia River as far down as the Glenn Jackson Bridge. All in all a great day.
Next week, July 17, we will meet at the Fred Meyer parking lot, south side by Willamette Blvd. for a St. Johns walk ending at the St. Johns bridge in time for a music concert and who knows what else.
Cliff talks a bike race volunteer into giving him 4 bottles of water...
...to quench our thirst.
Under the Glenn Jackson bridge the headroom became less and less.
